SkillsUSAFive Brownwood High School students competed at the State SkillsUSA Competition in Corpus Christi on March 25.  Receiving a Superior Blue Ribbon and a Team Trophy for their twin seat patio bench were Christopher Bryant, a sophomore, and brother Wesley Bryant, a senior and cousin, Jacob Bryant, a junior.  Christopher also competed in the State masonry competition, which he won Gold at District.  Jacob plans on buying the bench to take to family reunions.  The team of three agreed that “three heads are better than one” because teammates help catch each other’s mistakes.

Justin Matthews, also a senior, received a Superior Blue Ribbon for his blanket chest and bench.  Justin chose to build the chest for its functionality.  He plans on selling the piece and possibly making more.

Cecilio Chavarria, a senior, also received a Superior Blue Ribbon for his mini picnic table.  He also competed in the State plumbing competition, which he won Gold at the District level.  Cecilio plans on giving the table to his younger siblings, whom he made it for.
