Several Brownwood Lions and Lady Lions headed to the Texas Relays at the University of Texas’ Myers Stadium Friday and Saturday to participate in Division I events for 3A or smaller schools.
Several Brownwood athletes did well in several events with the Lady Lions finishing sixth in the girls 400 relay. Kinsey Johnson, Julie Kennedy, Aranda Salazar and Clemitra Smiley clocked 49.87 in the event.
Clemitra Smiley also placed sixth in the 100 with a 12.32.
The Lions placed 12th among qualifying teams in the sprint relay and did not make the finals. The combo of Jaxson Shipley, Kevin Vaccaro, Derek Longoria and Levi Perez ran a 43.88.
Shipley also placed ninth in the 110 hurdles with a 15.4.
Cade Johnson matched his season best pole vault with a 14-6 effort to take ninth place.
