SEGUIN, Texas – The Howard Payne softball team dropped a double header 1-3 and 3-4 to Texas Lutheran University Thursday in American Southwest Conference action. 

Howard Payne held a 1-0 lead after two innings but gave up one in the third and two in the bottom of the sixth to fall 1-3 in game one to TLU. The Lady Jackets run came on a Katie Poerner triple scoring Evangelina Tellez in the top of the second. 

Howard Payne was up again in game two 3-1 going into the bottom of the fourth but gave up runs to end the inning. TLU scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the sixth and the Lady Jackets lost 3-4.

HPU dropped to 7-14 and to 4-8 in the American Southwest Conference West Division. TLU improved to 9-15 overall and to 3-7 in the ASC West.

HPU and TLU play a conference doubleheader Friday at Morck Field in Seguin. The start time for the doubleheader has been moved up an hour, to 11 a.m.
