In observance of Youth Art Month the Brownwood Art Association is again hosting an art exhibit for all Brown county students in grades 5 through 12.  Youth Art Month, sponsored by the Council for Art Education (CFAE), is an annual observance each March to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs.

In conjunction with this exhibit the Brownwood Art Association is also sponsoring a $1,000 senior scholarship competition and a hands-on art day for students in grades K through 12.

The exhibit will be held at the Brownwood Art Association’s Art Center at 215 Fisk Ave and will open Sunday, March 21 from 1:30 to 4:00 with an awards ceremony starting at 2:00 . The exhibit will close Thursday, April 1 and can be viewed Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, each week from 3:30 to 6:00pm .

There will also be a “Hands-on Art Day” held Saturday, March 27, from 10:00 to 12:00 for students in kindergarten through sixth grades.  Activities for students in seventh through twelfth grades will be from 1:00 to 3:00.

The art activities will include painting, printmaking, pottery, marbleized paper, wax resist, and drawing.
