Summer Job Opportunities

Now is the time to look for a summer job.  Sometimes college students or single teachers that have the summer off get opportunities all accross the state and sometime even in other states.  It is hard to know where all the jobs are.  Recently Brownwood News received an email regarding jobs that were available in the metroplex area, in Coppell.  Some of these may be interesting to our readers.  With the job market so slim, it is important to get the word out.  Hope that helps some of the teachers, college students or young jobseekers make the summer more interesting and profitable.

Here’s what was listed:

SUMMER CAMP COUNSELORS
PARKS AND RECREATION

The City of Coppell is seeking several responsible people who are enthusiastic and energetic to assist with our summer camp program. Great summer job opportunity for schoolteachers who are off for the summer.  College students or high school graduates or equivalent are welcome to apply.  Must be at least 18 years of age.  Must have ability to interact and lead day camp participants in a variety of activities.  Must be able to work harmoniously with children, fellow employees, and the public. Will have to respect direction of supervisors and follow instructions.  Must be of good character, be drug free, and be able to successfully complete a criminal history/background check, valid Texas CDL with passenger approval preferred and have a clean driving record.

 
Salary: $10.00 per hour.

KIDZ CONNECT INSTRUCTORS
COPPELL PARKS AND RECREATION
The City of Coppell is accepting applications for Seasonal Recreation Instructors (KidzConnect).  Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent.  Must be drug-free and have a clean criminal history.  Must have good communication skills and ability to deal with general public in a positive and courteous manner.  Must be safety conscious and willing to follow rules and direction of supervisors.  Must be diplomatic and professional.  Additional qualifications include prior experience with teaching general subjects or presenting ideas to a group including science, music, art, as well as sports related classes such as soccer, track and swim.
 
Salary Range: $10-$15 per hour depending on the class

SEASONAL LIFEGUARDS 
COLLEGE STUDENTS WELCOME
(Age 17 and up)
PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT
The City of Coppell is now accepting qualified applicants for the positions of Summer Lifeguard. Minimum qualifications: swim a timed 200 yard crawl, perform Compact Jump from 48″, perform feet-first rescue dive to 96″ and bring 10 lb. brick safely to surface and tread water maintaining possession of the brick for 2 minutes without using hands. Must be able to obtain a valid Ellis & Associates Special Facilities Lifeguard License by date of employment. This training will be held on site for a standard fee. Training fees will be refunded to employees who complete the season. Must have a professional appearance (no visible tattoos or abstract body piercing), good character and dependability. Must be drug-free and have a clean criminal history. Must have good communication skills and ability to deal with the general public in a positive and courteous manner. Must be safety conscious and willing to follow rules and direction of supervisors.
 
Starting Salary: $9.66 per hour
