The Brownwood Police Department is investigating two separate stabbing incidents that occurred over the weekend sending multiple victims to the hospital.

The first incident occurred at a residence in the 1800 block of Main Blvd on Friday night as a result of a large fight.  Police reports indicate that as a result of the fight, seven people went to the hospital with various stab wounds and other injuries.  One victim sustained a stab wound to his abdomen causing heavy bleeding into his lungs according to the police report.   Stab wounds to the neck, abdomen, head, and back were also reported by the other victims according to the police report.  One victim reported that he was also hit in the head with a hammer.

Various witness reports indicate that the situation began at the carnival earlier Friday night between the mostly teenage suspects when they were reportedly “talking trash” regarding one of the victim’s girlfriends.   The police report indicates that the victims went to a house and met up with some friends on Main Blvd when the suspects arrived.  The fight broke out in the yard when the injuries occurred.

Most of the victims and suspects were between 16-21 years old and some of the victims currently attend Howard Payne University according to the police report.  A 38-year-old man who lives in the home where the incident occurred also sustained stab wounds.

No arrests have been made, but police are seeking the suspects.

One of the suspects in the Friday stabbing is also a suspect in another incident that occurred Sunday morning.  Police responded to a call at Brownwood Regional Medical Center about a man who was stabbed in the leg while sitting inside of his car.

Police reports state that the 17-year-old victim and his friend told police that they met some girls in the Wal-Mart parking lot after 3am Sunday.  The police report states that girls left so one of them could “deal with her boyfriend” according to the police report.

A short time later, the victim and his friend tried to catch up with the girls and pulled up alongside their vehicle.  At that point, a male subject got out of the vehicle and stabbed the victim in the leg.  The victim and his friend fled and drove to Brownwood Regional Medical Center according to the police report.

The police report indicates that the suspect in this second stabbing incident is also a suspect in stabbings at Friday’s fight on Main Blvd.
