G.C. Holladay

Graveside funeral services for G.C. Holladay Jr., 83, of Zephyr, will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, March 3, in the Zephyr Cemetery with the Rev John Clifford officiating. Interment will follow, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

Mr. Holladay passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Comanche County Medical Center.

G.C. Holladay Jr., was born on August 14, 1926, in Lamesa Texas to Grover and Dorothy Lee Holladay. He served his country in the United States Army and on November 25, 1953, he married Elizabeth Phillips in Abilene Texas. G.C. was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandsons. He was a farmer for most of his life and had also been a test driver for Firestone at the tire test center in Fort Stockton. G.C.  was of Baptist faith and had been a resident of Imperial for 60 years before moving to Zephyr in October.

G.C.  is survived by his wife of 56 years,  Elizabeth Holladay of Zephyr; sons, Joel Holladay and wife Brenda, of Post, Kerry Holladay of Honolulu,  and Thomas Holladay and wife Sharon, of Odessa; daughter Freddie Murphy and husband Joe, of Zephyr; grandsons, Brandon Holladay and wife Jennifer, Matthew Duree, Sammy Duree and Brian Holladay; and two great-grandsons, Cole and Cade Holladay.  He is also survived by two brothers, Wyatt Holladay of Wickett Texas and Billie Holladay of College Station; and two sisters, Nancy Welch of Ennis and Jauniece Hazelwood of Cypress.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Cleveland Holladay and Dorothy Lee Holladay.
