Howard_Payne_logosmallTwo-time Southwest Conference Championship Coach Grant Teaff will be the featured speaker at the Brownwood Fellowship of Christian Athletes Community Luncheon on Wednesday, March 3. Hosted by the Howard Payne University FCA Huddle, the program begins at 11:45 a.m. in the Bullion Suites of the Mabee University Center.

Grant Teaff is currently the executive director of the American Football Coaches Association, a position he has held since February 1994. His career as a college coach has placed him in eight Halls of Fame, including the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame. A long-time coach for Baylor University, he has won 170 football games and two Southwest Conference Championships. He has also coached in 20 postseason bowls and all-star games.

During the luncheon, FCA will make an announcement concerning the hiring of future FCA staff in the area.

According to Brownwood FCA board member Dr. Carol Boren, the area chapter partners with the national FCA organization, but staff must be financially supported through the community. Therefore, the board decided to host this event to raise awareness and funds necessary to hire a full-time staff member to work alongside the local huddles.

The Brownwood FCA is comprised of huddles in Brown, Mason, Coleman and Comanche counties. Campus meetings, known as huddles, are held on middle and high school campuses throughout the counties, as well as at HPU. Each group hosts Bible studies and activities throughout the year and participates in the annual Fields of Faith event.

The luncheon is free to the public, but donations will be accepted. Reservations are encouraged but not required. Please call 325-643-5644 ext. 3014 or e-mail cpickett@fca.org.
