Baseball: Lions Beat Bandera

brownwoodlionslogoThe Brownwood Lions baseball team defeated the Bandera Bulldogs at the Fredericksburg Tournament
Thursday morning with a final score of 5-1.  The Lions had 6 hits and no errors.

The Lions Improve to a 1-1 overall record and this marks the 1st victory for 1st Year Head Coach Jeremy Smith.

Junior pitcher Vance McShan allowed 2 hits, 1 walk, and 1 run.  He also had 4 strikeouts.  Defensive standouts included Short Stop Levi Perez (Junior), Second Baseman Patrick Espinoza (Senior), and Catcher Dillon Ellis (Junior).

Brownwood Offensive Standouts:

  • 1. Levi Perez – 2 for 4 (2 Singles and 1 Stolen Base)
  • 2. Patrick Espinoza – 1 Walk and 1 Run Scored (0 for 2)
  • 3. Tyler Edwards – 1 for 3 (1 Single / 1 Walk / 1 Run Scored)
  • 4. Vance McShan – 1 for 3 (1 Walk / 1 RBI / 1 Single / 1 Run Scored)
  • 5. James Crow – 1 for 4 (2 RBI / 1 Single)
  • 6. Josh Fleming – 0 for 0 (2 Walks / Sacrifice Fly / 1 RBI / 1 Run Scored)
  • 7. Dillon Ellis – 1 for 3 (1 RBI and 1 Single)

The Brownwood Lions next games in the Fredericksburg tournament will be Friday, February 26 vs. Burnet Bulldogs at 2:30 PM and game 2 for the Brownwood Lions will be Friday at 7PM vs. Midland Christian

The Brownwood JV will play on Friday, February 26 in the Moody Varsity Tournament vs. Dublin Varsity at 3 PM.  The JV will then play Saturday in the tournament vs. Rio Vista Varsity at 10 AM and then will face Moody Varsity at 3 PM.
