woodcox001Funeral services for Elsie Elaine Woodcox, age 88, of Brownwood, will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, Feb 13, 2010 in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with her son Rev. Artie Woodcox officiating.  Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Elsie passed into the loving arms of her savior on February 10, 2010 at Brownwood Regional Hospital. Born on December 9, 1921, to Rufus Taylor Powers and Eva Elaine Jennings in Lometa, Texas, she moved to Brownwood as a young child and always considered it home. She married Joe B. Kerby in April 1940. She was married to Edward Parks Owens from July 1958 until his death in 1963.She was married to Arthur Woodcox from December 1964 until his death in 1995.

Elsie’s greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She loved them with her entire being and was loved in return with the same intensity. Those she left behind are son, Joe B. Kerby Jr. and wife Margaret of Zephyr, Tx., daughter, Barbara Franks and husband Olen of Brownwood, Tx., daughter, Tami Spearman and husband Rick of Brownwood, Tx., and son Artie Woodcox and wife Rachael of Buckeye, Az.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and one soon to be born; and a sister-in-law Wanda Powers of Brownwood.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, brother R.T Powers Jr., infant sister Betty Jo Powers; and a son Robert Owens.

The family asks that any memorials be made to Good Samaritan Ministries of Brownwood.
