rodeo_stockphotoThe 47th Annual Brown County Rodeo will see a few changes this year in hopes to enhance the event not only for participants, but for fans as well.

The date for the 2010 Rodeo has changed from the last weekend in July to June 10th – 12th according to Fair Association president, Ben McInnis.  The Fair Association has also decided to return to an amateur rodeo, dropping PRCA.

“These decisions were made to try and improve the quality of participants as well as the number of entries, particularly in bull riding,” said Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce Tourism Manager Sunni Holloway.

Terry Walls will be returning as the stock contractor and the entertainment will be great as always!  The date for the annual BBQ dinner has not been set, but everyone is in for a mouthwatering treat this year with freshly smoked briskets hot off the pit.

This also means preparing parade floats six weeks early since the Rodeo Parade will be taking place Saturday morning on June 12th.

“Change is always difficult and often a bit painful, but at times it is necessary,” Holloway said. “It will still be a great family event steeped in tradition that ultimately benefits the kids of Brown County.”

Everyone is encouraged to come out and have a good time during the 2010 Rodeo and participate in the parade that Saturday morning.  Businesses are encouraged to hang flags and buntings to show their pride and support for one of the longest running events in Brown County.
