The Brown County Sheriff’s Office made arrests over the weekend charging multiple individuals with Possession of Marijuana in two separate cases.

Deputy Wes Copeland stopped a vehicle with three occupants on Friday for a speeding violation on Hwy 67.   Copeland’s report states that the occupants “seemed a little more nervous than what I see in most traffic stops.”

After questioning the individuals and conducting an investigation, deputies determined that some of them had been smoking marijuana and drinking beer.

18-year-old Jacob Kyle Cantu of Coleman was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.  Cantu also had an outstanding warrant from Garza County for Possession of Marijuana.  He was also cited for Minor in Possession of Alcohol and Driving under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor.

18-year-old Daniel Ramon Vasquez of Coleman was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.  He was also cited for Minor in Possession of Alcohol.

The third occupant was cited for Minor Consumption of Alcohol and was released to his mother.

In an unrelated incident on Friday, a Sheriff’s investigator and a probation officer conducted a search on a woman’s residence in Bangs on a condition of a search clause as part of her probation.  The search of the residence yielded several marijuana cigarettes and a baggy of marijuana according to Sheriff’s reports.

23-year-old Monique Sandoval was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.  27-year-old Joe Wayne Bastardo who was an occupant in the home when officers arrived was also arrested.  The Sheriff’s report states that Bastardo attempted to hide a marijuana cigarette during the search of the residence.  He was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Tampering with Evidence.
