WithAChanceofRainThe 12th Annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit kicked off Saturday night with their Opening Night and Awards Program.  A large crowd of artists, art enthusiasts, and public officials attended the event including US Representative Mike Conaway.

As an added treat, this year’s juror John Hartley from the University of Texas at Arlington was in attendance and made commentary about each winning art piece as the artist was presented with the award.

“Awards were made to those whose work I personally identified with,” Hartley said. “As is evident in the art included in this exhibition, there is great work to be found in Brownwood.”

151 artists from 53 different cities in Texas delivered 356 works of art to the Depot for consideration by the juror.  119 pieces were selected for the exhibit.

Eric Villarreal of Abilene took the Dorothy Mays Best of Show Award with his oil painting titled …With A Chance of Rain (pictured above).
