The now abandoned Medical Arts Hospital building located on the corner of W. Anderson and Booker looks to be starting down the road to demolition.

The Brownwood Economic Development Corporation is moving forward with asbestos abatement on the building as an initial step in the process.  Once the abatement process has been completed, the city of Brownwood is expected to consider approving demolition of the building which they currently own.

If the demolition is ultimately approved, it will allow Texas State Technical College to use of the property for possible future expansions.

Renovation and future use of the building is not possible due to structural damage to the sub-floor.   The estimated cost of abatement and future demolition of the building is near $75,000.
