Norwood002Funeral services for Lynn Christene Norwood, 62, will be held at 3:00 p.m. January 31 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenleaf Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Chris died peacefully on Thursday, January 28, with her three sons by her side following a lengthy illness with cancer.  She was a devoted Christian and lived her life by Christian values.

Chris can best be remembered by the following poem, “When I’m Gone”, by Mrs. Lyman Hancock.

When I come to the end of my journey

And I travel my last weary mile

Just forget if you can that I ever frowned

And remember only the smile.

Forget unkind words I have spoken

Remember some good I have done

Forget that I ever had heartache

And remember I’ve had loads of fun

Forget that I’ve stumbled and blundered

And sometimes fell by the way

Remember I have fought some hard battles

And won, ere the close of the day

Then forget to grieve for my going

I would not have you sad for a day

But in summer just gather some flowers

And remember the place where I lay

And come in the shade of evening

When the sun paints the sky in the west

Stand for a few moments beside me

And remember only my best.

Chris owned and operated City Beauty Salon in Ranger for a number of years, worked as a seamstress and at then at Wal-Mart where she touched many people with her loving helpfulness.  She will be remembered fondly by all of her family and dear friends and family.

Chris was born on January 17, 1948 in Brownwood to George and Zilapha (Cook) Norwood.

Chris is survived by her three sons, Phillip Gosnell and wife Heather of Eastland, Chad Gosnell and wife Sylvia of Carbon, and Dusty Gosnell and wife Rogina of Zephyr, eight grandchildren, Bryce and Tye Gosnell, Phillip, Joshua, Noah, and Luke Gosnell, and Cadence and Corben Gosnell; a brother, George Norwood of Brownwood, three sisters, Diane Miller of Brownwood, Elizabeth Miller of Austin, and Betsy Green and husband Regan of Blanket, and numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Damon Ray Patterson, uncle J.B. Cook, aunt, Christine Tackett, a niece Nadalee Roseanne Smith, a brother-in-law Curtis Miller, and a special brother-in-law, Bob Simmons.
