The Brownwood Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire in the 2300 block of Belmeade around 8:30 am Wednesday morning.

The homeowner reported that temporary tenants had just moved out of the home the day before.  The owners who were about to meet a painter, had unlocked the door to find burn marks forming on the ceiling and a strong smell of smoke.

The fire department responded quickly and was able to extinguish the fire which was contained in the attic.

The home was spared more extensive damage due to the fire department’s quick response.

No one was injured and the homeowner was able to evacuate with personal property that was stored in the home.
