earlygirlssoftball2010A group of the Early High School Girls Softball Team traveled to Round Rock on January the 9th and 10th to compete in the 11th Annual Round Rock Invitational (Preseason High School Tournament).

The Early girls choose to be in the Big School Bracket with mostly 5A and 4A schools which included 45 teams total.

The Early team finished the tournament with 5 wins and 3 losses picking up two wins over Round Rock Westwood HS 5A, Round Rock McNeil HS 5A, La Porte Calhoun HS 5A, and Houston Kingswood HS 5A.  Early’s losses were close games against Taylor HS 3A ( lost by 1 in extra innings) , Lampasas HS 4A ( 1ost by 1 in extra innings), and A&M Consolidated HS 5A in the bracket finals.

The Early girls not only had to fight freezing temperatures but had to play the tournament shorthanded because of injuries to some of the regular starters, but a pair of 8th grade girls step in and helped them in the tournament.

The tournament is a High School warm-up so High School coaches were not allowed to participate, but were encouraged to attend.

Team members are bottom row from left to right Morgan Birrell sophomore, Tyleme Middleton Senior. Top row left to right Janea Williams 8th grade, Shandi Winstead junior, Daniellia Castillo sophomore, Julia Loudermilk senior, Janna Allen senior, Kish Suniga junior, Kassidy Allen 8th grade, and Kelbie Crelia freshman. Not pictures is coach Winifred Campbell.
