Roy Edward Johnson

Roy E. Johnson, Jr. age 79, of Brownwood died Saturday morning at the Cross Country Care Center in Brownwood.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Jenkins Spring Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 – 7 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born June 21, 1930 in Holdenville, Oklahoma, the son of the late Roy Edward and Lela James Johnson Sr. He married Mary Lamirand in Oklahoma on July 16, 1952.
He was retired from National Life & Accident Insurance Company where he worked as a staff manager for over 35 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bangs and had lived in Brownwood since 1966 moving from Shawnee, Oklahoma.


He is survived by his wife, Mary Johnson of Brownwood

3 Daughters – Gwen Watts and husband Phil of Brownwood
Pennie Newton and husband Brent of Bangs
And Gayla Powell of Blanket

1 Son – Keith Johnson and wife Christina of Odessa

A brother – Jerry Johnson and wife Margaret of Baton Rouge, La.

3 Sisters – Patricia Bradley and husband Bill of Holdenville, Arkansas
Joy Choate and husband R. D. of Armore, Oklahoma
And Imogene Rutz of Wichita, Kansas

9 Grandchildren, Taffy Watts, Tami Jones, Brittney Hardin, Jason Newton, Jeremy Newton, Krystal Powell, R. J. Powell, Marcy Johnson, and Stacy Johnson

5 Great Grandchildren – Watts, Sir, and River Jones, Joey Newton, Taylor Hardin, and another soon to be born.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 Brothers, and 3 Sisters.
