TexasDPS_logoA 4-year-old girl was killed and 5 others were injured on Saturday in a one vehicle rollover accident in Nolan County.

Angelica Chavez, 4, of Sweetwater, was taken to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead as a result of injuries from the crash which occurred just after 11pm on Saturday on IH-20, five miles west of Sweetwater.

Those injured include the driver, 32-year-old Christella Puentes from Sweetwater, 2-year-old Gabriela Chaves from Sweetwater, 44-year-old Jamie Flores from Houston, 31-year-old Sulma Salazar from Sweetwater, and 37-year-old Jambler Robledo Lerma from Mexico.

The Texas Department of Public safety state that several of the occupants were not properly restrained in the vehicle including the 4-year-old victim.  A one-year-old who was also in the vehicle was not injured.

DPS reports indicate that the occupants were in a 1995 Chevy 4-door as it was travelling east on IH-20 and attempted to exit at mile post 240 at an excessive speed.  The vehicle went into a skid, across the south service road, and rolled over into an open field.

Texas DPS Trooper Russell Conkling is investigating the crash.
