christmasparadelogoBells will be ringing this weekend as the Christmas Under The Stars Festival kicks off.

Downtown Brownwood will come alive Friday, December 4th at 6:00 pm as the annual Lighted Christmas Parade makes its way through the streets. This year’s parade is themed, “The Spirit of Christmas” and is sponsored by Southside Church.

“The Southside Church family is thrilled to have this opportunity to give back to the community and we hope to inspire others to do so as well,” said Eric Evans, Pastor of Worship and Administration at Southside Church.

The Grand Marshal of the parade is the Salvation Army, represented by Donna Harris, Director of the Brownwood Service Center.

Registration is now open to anyone wanting to be a part of the parade. There is no entry fee, but all participants in the parade are encouraged to support a non-profit organization of their choosing to show the spirit of Christmas to the community.

Parade registration and information is available online at www.southsidebrownwood.org or forms can be picked up at the Southside Church office (1219 Indian Creek). All participants must register by noon on December 3rd.

Line up and judging for the parade will take place Friday, December 4th at 4:30 pm. Awards will be given to participants in the following categories: Best of Parade, (overall entry that best develops Theme, Design and Lighting), Grand Marshal’s Choice (entry that best exemplifies the Parade Theme), Club/Civic Organization, Equine, Company/Industry, Religious, School, Vehicle, Band.

For questions or further information, email office@southsidebrownwood.org or call 325-646-0844.
