W. A. “Dub” Beyers, Jr.

Graveside funeral services with military honors for William A. “Dub” Beyers, age 86, of Kerrville, formerly of Zephyr, will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday in the Zephyr Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:00.

Mr. Beyers died Sunday, November 22, 2009 in Kerrville.

Dub was born on March 16, 1923 in Wayland, Texas to William A. and Maggie Lee (Ridley) Beyers.  He served his country in World War II in the US Army Air Corps.  He married Ruth Pursley on April 11, 1948 in Roby.  Dub worked as a plant foreman for Amoco Production Company in Andrews for 31 years before retiring and moving to Zephyr in 1983.  He was a member of the Zephyr United Methodist Church.

Dub is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth, of Kerrville, a daughter, Lee Ann Allen and husband John of Kerrville, a son William A. Beyers, III and wife Debbie of Gainsville, Florida, a daughter, Noretta B. Lovell and husband Toby of Pearland; two grandsons, Scott Allen and wife Bonnie of Kerrville and Matthew Beyers of San Diego, CA, a granddaughter Brittney Lovell of Pearland; great-grandson, Cash Allen of Kerrville, a great-granddaughter, Elise Allen of Kerrville, two nephews, Dan Connally and Houston Connally, and two nieces, Patty Boxbarger and Bobby McCoy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Dora Perry, Jessie Reid, and Doris Perry.

The family requests donation be made in Dub’s memory to The University of Texas, M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, P. O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486.
