Leatha “Pete” Lewis

Leatha “Pete” Lewis, age 92, of Brownwood passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm Tuesday, November 24, 2009 in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Charles Copeland officiating.  Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery.  Visitation is set for Monday November 23, 2009 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, from 6-8pm.

Leatha “Pete” was born April 13, 1917 to Walter and Mary Byrd, in Brown County, TX.  She married Floyd Tylas Lewis in Grosvenor, TX on October 10, 1935.  She was a lifelong member of Brown County.  “Pete” became a Christian later in her life, and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  She was a loving mother and took very good care of her children.  Family was important to her and she loved attending family reunions.  Anybody who knew “Pete” could attest to the fact that she had a very fun, outgoing personality.  She loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.  She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, her grandson Randy Ray Simmons, and her great-great-grandson Parker Lewis.

Survivors include her children; Donald Lewis and wife Betty, Nolan Lewis and wife Carrol, Dennis Lewis and wife Dot, and Vonda Lewis Simmons and husband Delton, her grandchildren; Russell Lewis and wife Jo, Sherry Ferguson and husband Jackie, Keith Lewis and wife Alicia, and Ty Lewis and wife Christy, numerous great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
