The Brown County Sheriff’s office arrested a man and woman on Wednesday after deputes saw their vehicle traveling into oncoming traffic on Hwy 67 where the highway is divided.

Joe Freddie Collins, 51, of Brownwood was charged with DWI and Donna Lynn Tipton, 43, also of Brownwood was arrested for public intoxication.

Sheriff’s reports say that the couple was returning home from a party at Lake Brownwood when Deputy Varner found them driving on the wrong side of the road.

Collins was arrested on suspicion of DWI.  The report also says that Tipton was intoxicated to the point that she did not realize that they had been driving into oncoming traffic on a divided highway for about four miles.  Both were taken to the Brown County Jail.

-In an unrelated incident, Brownwood Police arrested 40-year-old Chad William Beasley late Thursday morning for public intoxication.

Police were called to a residence in the 1600 block of Belle Plain and observed Beasley and another man facing each other in a fighting posture.

Police reports indicate that the homeowner caught Beasley trying to take some property from his house and a confrontation developed.  The report states that Beasley claimed that he stayed the night before at the house with his boyfriend and just returned to retrieve his property.

Police observed signs that Beasley was intoxicated.  He was arrested for public intoxication and burglary of habitation and transported to the Brown County Jail.
