shipleywithteamarticleTo call the Brownwood Homecoming weekend “big” would almost be an understatement.

The Brownwood Lions hosting the Graham Steers for the homecoming game is going to pull not only the fans attention, but widespread media attention as the much anticipated Shipley vs McCoy matchup comes together.

Fox Sports, Rivals.com, Austin American Statesman are just a few of the news outlets covering the game in addition to the local media.  The game is even the DQ Game of the Week which will give it additional coverage.  No doubt, this will be an important game for Brownwood in district play.

Also for those getting to the game early, the Lions Mother’s Club will be having a tailgate party with Brisket sandwiches, chips, dessert and a drink for $5.00.

There are also a couple of class reunions happening this weekend.  The Brownwood High School class of 1989 are having their 20th class reunion.  The class of 1969 is also having their 40th reunion which will bring many of the “Gordon Wood state championship years” classmates together again.

Also remember that the Lady Lions are hosting Graham in volleyball on Friday at 5pm.  There should be plenty of time to catch that game before football kickoff.

For more background info on the “Shipley vs McCoy” matchup, see a great article in the Abilene Reporter News from earlier in the year HERE.
