The Military & Family Support Group is looking to wrap up their annual “Community Christmas Boxes and Cards of Support Project” for the year and they are looking for a little more help.   Each year this group collects cards of support and items for families of military to distribute to their active duty serviceman/servicewoman who are registered for the project.

Joyce Leidig of the group said that donations have been great this year, but now they are seeking more Military names that the project can help.

“We want the ‘Community Christmas Boxes and Cards of Support’ project to reach out and support as many active duty Military as possible.  Boxes and cards of support are given to Military no matter where they are serving… Iraq , Afghanistan or stateside,” Leidig said.

Those who are deployed or stationed overseas receive more items and if their families would like they can pick up 3 or 4 boxes to mail.

Liedig said, “Our Military need to know that all of us appreciate their role in protecting and defending our nation’s freedom.  This is important during times of peace and especially important in times of war.”

Liedig also wanted to put the word out that  they are seeking volunteers to help put together and pack the Christmas Boxes.  They will be meeting Friday, Nov 6th, starting at 2:00 pm and Saturday, Nov 7th from 8:30 to 12:00 noon.

For more information on volunteering or to register active duty Military for a box of support contact Joyce Leidig 325-784-5014 or leidig@web-access.net
