Good News Goods, a fair trade initiative of the Christian Life Commission of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, will have products for sale in the Mabee University Center at Howard Payne University on Monday, October 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Good News Goods brings products to churches and universities across Texas, seeking to fight poverty through ethical spending. Goods such as coffee, tea, chocolate, jewelry, scarves and bowls will be sold with the profits going to alleviate poverty and human trafficking around the world. Many of the items have been made by victims rescued out of human trafficking situations.

One of the primary partners for this organization is Trade as One, an organization whose core concern is to use sustainable small business in the developing world. Another partner is Woman’s Missionary Union through WorldCrafts, a nonprofit ministry which imports handcrafts from 31 countries and markets them in the U.S. Ten percent of the proceeds from the sale of Good news Goods products are donated to the Texas Baptist Offering for World Hunger.
