Early Police Reports: Beer Purchase Leads To Arrest

The Early Police Department made a few arrests over the weekend for drug possession and purchasing alcohol for a minor.

09/26/2009 at 10:50pm Sgt Shawn Dibrell was getting fuel at a convenience store when he observed an individual come out of the store with a 30 pack of beer. The individual sat in his car for a few minutes the another vehicle, a white Durango pulled up beside him. Both vehicles pulled around to the side of the store. A passenger, that appeared to be a minor,  of the 2nd vehicle (Durango) got out and went to the 1st vehicle and obtained a beer. Sgt Dibrell then activated his emergency lights and approached the 2 vehicles. The juvenile was identified as a 16 year old from Brownwood. The driver of the 1st vehicle was identified as John Lewis Flores of Coleman. Flores was placed under arrest for making alcohol available to a minor. Upon searching Flores Sgt Dibrell located 2 baggies full of marijuana in the front pockets of Flores. Flores was charges with making alcohol available to a minor and possession of marijuana in a drug free zone.  The minor was issued a citation for Minor in possession.

09/26/09 3:45 pm Officer Johnny Brown stopped a 1989 Dodge Dakota Pickup in the 600 block of Early Blvd for an improper left turn. After interviewing the driver and passenger Officer Brown developed a suspicion of illegal activity. Officer Brown gained consent to search the vehicle and located a plastic baggie containing marijuana in the female passenger’s pocket. The male driver yelled that was his. Both Terry Lee Surber and Melissa Blansit Surber were arrested for possession of marijuana

09/25/2009 2:45 Officer Johnny Brown arrested Steven Tevino Hernandez for Criminal trespass for violating a criminal trespass warning issued to him for all the Food Plaza Stores.
