HPU football team falls at home with their first loss of the season against Sul Ross State University.

Sul Ross came out strong against the Jackets scoring 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and 7 in the second.

HPU made a good push after the half bringing 14 points to Sul Ross’ 7 in the 3rd quarter, but were unable to come back from their deficit.

Sul Ross beats Howard Payne with a final score of 31-14.  HPU goes to a 2 – 1 record for the season so far.

The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets are on the road next week as they travel to Seguin to play Texas Lutheran University on October 2nd.  Kickoff time is 2pm.
