New Downtown Building Owners Reveal Plans

articleroofcollaspe2The old Southwest Appliance Building located at 100 N. Fisk in downtown Brownwood has new owners now with some big plans.

David and Mary Stanley purchased & closed on the building last Thursday and have revealed a few of their upcoming plans for the coming months.

Mary Stanley said that the first phase of the project is to remove the debris from the building and repair the exterior stone work.  Part of the building’s roof collapsed in August while the previous owner’s contractors were working on the interior of the building (see previous story HERE).

Mrs. Stanley said that the plan right now is to convert the building into 5 condominium units.  Each unit will be approximately 2000 square feet each with double car parking.  The Stanleys will look to sell each unit and estimate that the price for each will be around $300,000.

They will be marketing these condo units heavily in out of town markets to creatively independent people.

Mary Stanley said that their hope is to see many of the condos purchased by people bringing a business with them that they can run from the downstairs portion of the condo.  They hope that this will help give a boost to the downtown Brownwood area.

The Stanleys expect the project to take approximately 18 months to complete.

The previous owners planned to demolish the entire building after the roof collapse until the Stanleys offered to purchase it just before the demo was to begin.

David and Mary Stanley own many other downtown buildings including the Turtle Restaurant.

See photos of the roof collapse from last month below.
