Volunteers Rally For Reunion

reunionVolunettrarticlepicThe 2009 Brownwood Reunion Celebration is almost here and organizers threw a volunteer rally today at the Depot to kick things off.

Volunteers flooded into the Depot to pick up their 2009 Reunion t-shirts & get instructions for their Reunion duties.  Organizers also had refreshments, music and dancing as the volunteers got into the Reunion spirit.

There was also Reunion hats, shirts, and accessories available for purchase.  These items will be for sale during the Reunion as well.

Rowonna McNeely, volunteer coordinator, said that it takes around 1500 volunteers each year in addition to organizers to hold the event & that they are running right about that number for this year.

Other updated information regarding the Reunion:

-21st Calvary Brigade Air (Combat) will send helicopters to land at Reunion From 11:30-3:00 on Saturday.  A Huey and an Apache helicopter will be on display.

-The 5K run is at record numbers according to organizer Sue Byrd.  Currently there are over 300 contestants registered.  Byrd said that in the past, about 50 runners register the day of the event.  Those interested can still register & entry forms are available at www.BrownwoodTx.com The competition takes place Saturday, September 19th at 8am.

-The Hands on a House competition selected its contestants today & the event is moving along as planned.  This event kicks off on Friday, September 18th at 6pm.

-Weather outlook for the Reunion is great according to organizers.  The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 80’s.
