100_7630On Friday at the Brown County Courthouse, nearly 50 people gathered to not only remember the tragic events of 9/11/01 in America, but to “unite together with Christians nationwide in prayer on 9/11 at county courthouses across all 50 states praying for their community and for the spiritual condition of our nation”.

Several people led prayer, gave testimonies and encouraged the audience to take up a constant habit of prayer for our nation, our leaders and our community.  Reminders that one person can start a revival of change were also given.  One man reminded the crowd that in today’s world we are encouraged to watch and not actively participate; however, he encouraged the crowd to “use your gifts”.

A mention of thanks was given to the county for allowing their Freedom of Speech to gather on the courthouse steps, and thanks to God for giving His Grace.  Then a acapella duet of God Bless America and prayer ended the gathering.

Cry out America local organizer, Michael Sweetman, said he was surprised at the good attendance 100_7627given the short notice of the gathering and the rainy weather.

This event plans to continue yearly with other small gatherings planned in the future.  For more information please contact centexstar_sweetman@verizon.net or Heartland Church, Brownwood.

Around our nation 670 counties, 66 of which are in Texas, held Cry Out America gatherings.  In our area, Brown, along with surrounding counties of Comanche and McCullough participated.

The Cry Out America project was organized by the group The Awakening America Alliance.  Visit http://www.awakeningamerica.us/ for more information.
