handsonahouse1The 2009 Brownwood Reunion Celebration is only about a week away as many of the popular contests are getting put into place.

One of the most popular is the Hands on a House competition, which for 2009 is being billed as EXTREME.

The Hands on a House competition selects around 20 contestants each year competing for a custom built playhouse.  Contestants must keep their hand in contact with the house as set forth in the agreed rules during the Brownwood Reunion Celebration.  The last person remaining with their hand in contact with the house at the end of the Reunion wins the playhouse.  This year’s playhouse is a custom built 1950’s style diner.

As this EXTREME version of the competition kicks off, contestants will face extra challenges and mini-contests to test their skill, ability, and endurance even further.

The event begins at 5pm September 18th & the schedule for the EXTREME events are as follows.

  • 5:00 pm Friday:                   Contestant check in!
  • 6:00 pm Friday:                   Competition begins!
  • 6:01 pm Friday:                   Food Drive Competition begins!
  • 12:01 am/midnight:             Watermelon eating contest!
  • 9:30 am Saturday:              Contestants participate in Reunion Parade!
  • 12:00 pm/noon Saturday:    Mini-Food Drive (1-Hour)
  • 2:00 pm Saturday:              Car-hop Contest
  • 4:00 pm Saturday:              Blind Fold Contest
  • 10:00 pm Saturday:            Main Food Drive
  • 11:30 pm Saturday:            Costume Contest
  • 1:00 am Sunday:                Winner of Food Drive gets time off.
  • 1:01 am Sunday:                Dr. Pepper Float Party
  • 1:00 pm Sunday:                Elimination Rounds

Sponsors Coldwell Banker, Avalon Custom Homes, and WT Harris Company are also bringing back the popular food drive from last year to benefit Doers Ministries and the food pantry at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

The finished playhouse is now in place on the corner of Adams & Carnegie where the competition will begin next Friday.  Entry forms can be picked up at the playhouse, Coldwell Banker at 1900 Austin Ave, or online at www.BrownwoodTX.com.
