reunionlogoA portion of the USA Network’s Character Project will be on display during the Brownwood Reunion Celebration, Sept. 18-20, at The Turtle Restaurant & Enoteca.  The Character Project is an ongoing artistic initiative to celebrate the extraordinary people, from all walks of life.  Brownwood was one of eleven subjects featured in the book and the art exhibit that traveled the nation.  Eric McNatt, now of New York City, is the highly acclaimed photographer who photographed the people of Brownwood.  Eric has a family tree strongly rooted in the Brownwood Area.  His intention was to capture the “spirit of the small Texas town” he remembered from his childhood.

Eric’s section in the book is entitled, “Texas Homecoming,” so it is fitting that his work in the Character Project be unveiled locally at the Brownwood Reunion Celebration.

Eric will be bringing the photos featured in the book to display as an art exhibit, similar to the Character Project Exhibit that traveled the nation earlier this year.  In addition to the exhibit, there will be a reception, book signing, and silent auction on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 2-4:30pm.  All 47 of the people featured in the Brownwood section of the book have been invited to attend.  Books will be available for sale, and Eric and the people photographed will be signing books. A silent auction will be held for the mounted photographs, and will go toward the cost of matting and framing the images.  Individual prints will be available for sale.

The exhibit and reception will be hosted by the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and held at the Turtle Restaurant & Enoteca at 514 Center Ave., in historic Downtown Brownwood.  Exhibit hours are Friday, Sept. 18th from 5pm-10pm, Saturday, Sept. 19th from 11am-10pm, and Sunday, Sept. 20th from noon – 5pm.  The reception, book signing and silent auction will be Saturday, Sept. 19th from 2pm-4:30pm (bidding ends at 4:30pm).  Refreshments will be served.  Parking is available on Center Avenue, and in the City Hall Parking lot across the street from The Turtle.
