meetthelionsarticlepicBrownwood Lion fans gathered this evening to be introduced to the sports teams for the new school year.

Fans got to see the members of the 7th thru 12th grade sports teams for tennis, cross country, & volleyball along with the cheerleaders, band and drill teams.  Also the 7th grade, 8th grade, freshmen, JV, and varsity football teams were introduced to the packed crowd.

One special surprise that fans got to see was Josh Hernandez being introduced with the team and being included on this years team roster.  The stands erupted with loud cheers as Josh made his appearance with the team after being paralyzed earlier this year in an automobile accident.

The crowd also cheered at a video presentation introducing the new season of Brownwood Lions football, tagged as “A New Era Begins” referring to coach Bob Shipley’s first season as head football coach.

The 2009 Brownwood Lions football season officially gets underway Friday night when the varsity team faces the Burnet Bulldogs at Gordon Wood stadium starting at 7:30pm.

Enjoy the sights from tonight’s “Meet The Lions” event with over 90 photos of players and fans in the slide show below.
