bloodmobileUnited Blood Services will once again have their Bloodmobile available for blood donations on Monday in Brownwood.  Lighthouse Hospice is sponsoring this blood drive on Monday from 10am-1pm at 107 S. Park Drive.  There are only a few appointments still available, so those interested should visit BloodHero.com and schedule an appointment as soon as possible.  United Blood Services sometimes allows for walk-ins depending on how many appointment are scheduled.

For those who miss this blood drive, there is another one scheduled for September 3rd at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.  Those giving blood will receive a T-shirt.

To donate, you must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, have not donated in the past 8 weeks (16 weeks for double red cell donors), are healthy and are not currently taking antibiotics.  You may not donate if you:

  1. have cold or flu symptoms on the day of donation or do not feel well
  2. have ever used a needle to take nonprescription drugs
  3. had hepatitis after the age of 11
  4. ever had a positive Hepatitis B or C test
  5. are at risk of catching or spreading the AIDS virus.
