golfballdroparticlepicThe Brownwood Board of Realtors held their summer picnic Thursday evening at Creekbend Golf Course near Blanket & and one lucky winner walked away with a free 5 day cruise for two.

In conjunction with their summer picnic, the Realtor association also hosted a “Golf Ball Drop” contest.  Participants could purchase golf balls as an entry into a drawing for a 5 day cruise.  These golf ball entries were then numbered and collected to be dropped from a helicopter over a golf course hole.  Closest golf ball to the hole wins the cruise and with almost 600 golf ball entries, anticipation was high during the drop.

The winner of the cruise was Charlie Cabler who’s golf ball beat out another entry by only a half inch.

This event was to raise money for the state Realtor political action committee called TREPAC.  Other events at the picnic were the longest drive contest and closest to the pin.  Participants at the picnic were served a brisket and sausage meal.

Creekbend Golf Course arranged for the helicopter and golf balls for the event.
