
The Brownwood Lions slipped to 1-4 in District 6-4A baseball action, as the Brock Eagles posted their fifth straight league shutout, 11-0, Tuesday night at Morris Southall Field.
Brock (16-3, 5-0), which has outscored its league foes 53-0, limited the Lions (6-17, 1-4) to two singles – one by Wyatt Wolf and the other by Carter Massey – as Colton Ripple and Austin Gallogly combined to strike out seven batters with a pair of walks.
For Brownwood, Logan Flores, Blayne Stegemoller, Rhett Lowem and Massey surrendered nine earned runs on nine hits with five strikeouts, seven walks and three hit batters. The Lions defense committed two errors behind the pitching quartet.
Brock’s offense was sparked by Evan O’Connor’s double and three RBIs, Braxton Roberts’ double and two RBIs, and a solo home run by Cade Vidal.
The Lions will head to Brock at 7 p.m. Friday to conclude the two-game District 6-4A baseball series.
