At the time\, though\, it was known as the Brownwood Commercial Club. In 1907\, the name was changed to the 50\,000 Club. After that\, it became the Businessmen’s League. In 1915\, the Businessmen’s League became the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce. It was chartered in 1940 under Gene Mattox\, Chamber Manager. \nThe name changed again in 1993 to the Brown County Chamber of Commerce and received accreditation through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce\, while under the direction of Oscar Jarvis. Currently it operates under the present name\, the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce. \nToday’s Chamber is an active business organization\, instrumental in the steady growth and forward movement of the community. As per the articles of incorporation\, the Chamber’s primary purpose is to improve the environment in which commerce is conducted. The Chamber is designed to acquire\, preserve\, and disseminate valuable business information\, and it promotes the interest of trade in Brown County and the state of Texas.

DESCRIPTION:The Annual Corks and Caps event is presented by Visit Brownwood and is set for Saturday\, October 7st from 6 PM to 11 PM in the Depot Plaza in Brownwood.\nCorks and Caps will feature tastings of beer and wine from across Texas. A variety of food trucks will also be on hand offering food and desserts for purchase. All wineries will have bottles of their signature wines for sale.\nThe first 300 tasters who arrive will get their choice of a Corks and Caps commemorative wine glass or beer glass.\nTickets in advance are $25\, and include 10 tasting tickets or $15 for entrance only and no tasting tickets.\nTickets purchased at the gate will be $35 including 10 tastings\, or $25 for entrance only and no tasting tickets.\nAttendees must be 21 or older to purchase tasting tickets.\nTickets are exempt from Texas sales and use tax.
