Wanda Faye Connaway

Wanda Faye Connaway passed away on February 3, 2026, in Brownwood, Texas. She was born on September 23, 1931, to Cecil and Velma Forbess in Brownwood, where she spent her entire life as a proud resident of Brown County.

Wanda retired after many years of dedicated service with MHMR. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was cherished for her warm heart and wonderful sense of humor. Those who knew Wanda will also remember her special love for elephants, a reflection of her gentle and joyful spirit.

Wanda is survived by her sons Wayne Ely (Bonnie) of Moody, John (Laura) Connaway of Brooksmith, her grandchildren Shane, Misty, Shawn (Shasta), Trevor, DuRay and Chaz (Cheere) Ely, Melissa Harring, Brad Jones, Kaysha, Darren (Allisia) Ridley and Bryan (Marla) Connaway. She is also survived by 26 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Connaway and by her true love Louis

Ely, her parents, daughter Janie Ely and a brother Joe Allen Forbess.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 6, 2026, at Bangs Cemetery, Bangs Texas.

Arrangements are entrusted with Blaylock Funeral Home, Brownwood.
