Well, today I planned on sitting here and telling you, shockingly, that the University of Texas made the playoffs. It’s just not what I expected. I thought Texas would sneak in at the end and get the eleventh or twelfth spot, somewhere in there, and have a tough match up on New Year’s Day. Well, none of that is going to happen.
They kept Texas out and they are not qualified. They are the first team missing being ranked at number thirteen. The rest of them go along their jolly way. Texas had some people arguing for them, like me and the coach and whoever, but it’s not going to happen. Texas will get to play in the Citrus Bowl in Florida. They and Michigan have been named as the teams for the Citrus Bowl. So, that’s it for Texas and somebody will pay for this but Texas gets “bowled out” if you’re talking about the National Championship game.
Here are the twelve who made it. I’m going to give you the first round match-ups and then the quarter final bowl match-ups. Let’s see if all of these qualify as great teams, terrific teams. At 7 p.m. on December 19, Alabama plays Oklahoma (which Texas beat). Then on the 20th, Miami plays Texas A&M (which got trounced by Texas). At 2:30 on the 20th, it will be Tulane against Ole Miss. Tulane got in over Texas! At 6:30 on the 20th James Madison (WOW) and Oregon. James Madison can’t hold a stick to Texas! Those are eight of the twelve teams right there.
These are the quarterfinal bowl matchups. So, the Cotton Bowl will be Miami/Texas A&M winner against Ohio State. The Orange Bowl will be
James Madison/Oregon winner against Texas Tech. Rose Bowl – the big daddy of them all on the 1st – will be Alabama/Oklahoma winner against Indiana. Finally, the Sugar Bowl will be Tulane/Ole Miss winner against Georgia. So, those are the first round games for everyone – everyone except one of the best teams in the Nation. I’ll let you guess!
Until next time, so long everybody.
