The District 14-A Division I championship and No. 1 and No. 2 playoff seeds will be determined Friday night, as the No. 3 May Tigers look to unseat the Jonesboro Eagles and earn their first district crown since 2021.
May recorded a 56-8 victory over Lometa last week as the Tigers received 170 rushing yards and three touchdowns, a 25-yard passing touchdown and a 16-yard receiving touchdown from Lane Goodson. Kobey Morris added a 50-yard rushing touchdown and a 16-yard scoring toss, Cayson Dail threw for 51 yards and a touchdown, Brody Stice finished with 31 yards receiving and reached the end zone twice, and Jackson Lusk recorded 45 yards in receptions and scored on a 9-yard run. Mickey Scheriger also chipped in 22 yards rushing.
Defensively, May was led by Kayden Psencik with five tackles, along with four each from Kaden Watkins, Goodson and Lusk, three from Morris, and two apiece from Scheriger and Maddix Raffel.
Jonesboro disposed of Santa Anna, 51-6, last week, as Eagles to keep an eye on include Sam Lawrence, Will Featherston, Paden Martin, Damon Moore, Colton Robertson, Sydnie Smith, Camdyn Christel, and Preston Seager.

Zephyr (8-1, 3-0) at Gustine (6-2, 2-1)

The Zephyr Bulldogs will attempt to secure a fourth straight district championship outright, while the Gustine Tigers are looking to create a logjam atop the District 13-A Division II standings and force a tiebreaker to determine postseason seeding.
Zephyr is coming off a 54-20 victory over Sidney while Gustine knocked off Rising Star, 54-8, last week.
Trailing by a 14-0 count after one quarter a week ago, Zephyr stormed from behind to grab a 30-20 lead by halftime, then owned a 24-0 scoring advantage over the final two periods.
Zephyr amassed 347 yards of total offense – 275 rushing and 72 passing – and overcame three turnovers.
Chayden Woodcock rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns, while Jetson Gowin added 78 yards and two scores on the ground, and Quayde Heard rushed for 31 yards.
Through the air, Spencer Marwitz passed for 35 yards and a touchdown and Heard added 33 yards through the air with a scoring toss. Woodcock led the team with three receptions for 14 yards with a trip to the end zone, Gowin pulled two receptions for 39 yards and crossed the goal line once, and Wyatt Frank added an 11-yard catch.
Defensively, Gowin tallied 12 tackles for Zephyr followed by Troy Kubin and CJ Byers with eight apiece, and Ryan Glosson with seven tackles.
Tigers to watch include Andy Garcia, Alonso Gomez, Anthony Patino, Michael Garcia, and Caleb Newton.

Blanket (7-2, 2-1) at Sidney (2-7, 0-4)

With a win over the Sidney Eagles Friday night and help from rival Zephyr, the Blanket Tigers will earn the second playoff seed from District 13-A Division II.
A Blanket win and Gustine win would result in a three-way tie for the district championship, and a tiebreaker would determine the league’s two playoff berths, while a Blanket loss coupled with a Gustine win would keep Blanket out of the playoffs.
Blanket is coming off a bye as its last outing was a 30-20 home loss to Zephyr. In that contest, the Tigers owned a 281-231 edge in total yardage. Blanket rushed for 182 yards, led by 109 and two touchdowns from Kannon Kensing, who also caught four passes for 60, and completed an 18-yard toss. Mason Beck passed for 88 yards and a touchdown to Kade Russell, who finished with two grabs for 13 yards, and also rushed for 81 yards and caught an 18-yard pass.
Sidney suffered a 54-20 loss to Zephyr last week in which the Eagles led by a 14-0 count after one quarter. By the end of the night, however, Sidney had yielded 347 yards of total offense – 275 rushing and 72 passing – despite creating three turnovers.
The Eagles’ last win occurred on Oct. 2, a 58-6 triumph over the Jonesboro JV. Ethan Scantling rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns of 17 and 53 yards, while Josh Heath finished with 71 rushing yards and reached the end zone twice from 49 and 10 yards out, and Rees Miller chipped in 61 yards on the ground and a pair of scores from 37 and 26 yards.
Weston Bunting returned an interception 47 yards for a touchdown, while Ryan Crawford tacked on a 26-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

The Comanche Indians look to keep their faint playoff hopes alive as they welcome the Clyde Bulldogs Friday night.
A Comanche win and a Breckenridge loss to San Angelo TLCA would create a three-way tie for third and fourth place in the District 3-3A Division I standings.
In their 54-12 victory over San Angelo TLCA last week, the Indians amassed 328 yards – 179 rushing and 149 passing.
Cooper Welch completed 8 of 16 passes with a pair of touchdowns, as leading receivers included Fernando Patino with three for 96 yards, Dallas Gillete with two for 22 yards, CT Buford and Caden Carroll each with a 16-yard catch, and Damian Aguilar with a 9-yard reception.
On the ground, Ladanian Smith rushed for 91 yards, Elijah Ozuna added 53, Buford and Zaden Tello each tacked on 16 yards and Carroll rushed for 3 yards.
Defensively for Comanche, Aguilar recorded 11 tackles with a fumble recovery, followed by Tello with 10 tackles. Patino added seven tackles, and Buford intercepted a pass.
Clyde is coming off a 41-34 loss to Jim Ned in which the Bulldogs led 34-28 at halftime. Devan Wright paced Clyde with 172 yards rushing while Miles Wilsher finished with 72 yards on the ground and four touchdowns.

San Saba (6-3, 3-1) at Mason (6-3, 4-0)

The San Saba Armadillos can earn a share of the District 14-A Division I championship and create a tiebreaker scenario to determine playoff seeding with a road victory over the Mason Punchers Friday night.
A victory by at least 10 points will earn San Saba the No. 1 playoff seed, but a loss and the Armadillos will finish as the third playoff seed behind Mason and Thorndale, if the Bulldogs defeat one-win Holland.
San Saba is coming off a 34-0 victory over Holland in which the Armadillos rushed for all 361 of their offensive yards. Luke Tharp contributed 171 yards and three touchdowns, Jason Everett notched 99 yards and crossed the goal line once, and Melvin Umble tacked on 59 yards with a trip to the end zone.
Defensively, the Armadillos received 13 tackles from Everett, 11 from Kaylub Roberts, eight from Juan Patino, and six tackles each from Tharp and Clayton Meador. Jayden Aguirre recovered a fumble for the Armadillos’ lone takeaway.
Mason is led by RB Clancy Osbourn, RB/LB Slade Buell, QB/DB Grant Nobles, RB/LB Fisher Bradley, WR/DB Trevor Loeffler, and WR/DB Kingston Garza.

The third and fourth playoff seeds from District 10-2A Division II will be finalized Friday night as the Goldthwaite Eagles visit the Mart Panthers.
Goldthwaite rolled to a 61-0 victory over Meridian last week as the Eagles allowed just 31 yards of total offense with a pair of takeaways, while generating 296 yards – 201 on the ground and 95 through the air – without a turnover.
Owen Campbell rushed for 144 yards and four touchdown to pace the Goldthwaite offense, while Casen Wiedebusch tacked on a 57-yard scoring sprint.
Through the air, Blake Howard connected on 5 of 10 passes for 80 yards with three touchdowns – 25 yards to Slade Allen, 13 yards to Zachary Rodriguez, and 7 yards to Aidyn Lee, who finished with three grabs for 42 yards.
Mart is led by quarterbacks Ayden Lauderdale (738 passing yards, 10 TDs, 4 INTs) and Alijha Johnson (626 passing yards, 4 TDs, 6 INTs), running backs Ah’maad Scott (739 rushing yards, 8 TDs) and Quinn Preston (697 rushing yards, 14 TDs), and receivers Damian Davis (27-409, 5 TDs) and Ethan Hocking (18-298, 3 TDs).

The Cross Plains Buffaloes can clinch the fourth and final playoff berth from District 7-2A Division II with a road win over the Winters Blizzards Friday night.
Cross Plains dropped its second straight game to a district co-leader this past week with a 43-18 loss at the hands of Hamlin.
In that contest, Cross Plains manufactured 302 yards, including 291 rushing, with a pair of turnovers, while allowing 508 yards – 328 on the ground and 180 through the air – without a takeaway.
For the Buffaloes, Tyler Mackey rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns, Landry Savell added 76 yards and a score, Kye Schuman compiled 34 yards, and Kevin Hopkins tacked on 18 yards on the ground.
Through the air, Savell completed 1 of 12 passes for 12 yards with two interceptions, while Mackey grabbing the lone reception.
Defensively, Colt Sanderson recorded nine tackles for the Buffaloes followed by eight from Anson Long, seven from Mackey, and five each from Schuman and Brandan Jones.
Leading the way for Winters are quarterback Coy Martinez (967 passing yards, 10 TDs, 12 INTs), running back Mark Moreno (25-278, 1 TD receiving; 414 rushing yards, 2 TDs), and receiver Nolan Martinez (18-385, 7 TDs).

The second and final playoff berth from District 15-A Division II is up for grabs as the Panther Creek Panthers, fresh off their district bye, visit the Rochelle Hornets Friday night.
Panther Creek’s most recent victory was a 73-28 decision over Brookesmith on Oct. 18 as the Panthers manufactured 378 total yards – 202 passing and 176 rushing.
Caleb Hale completed 9 of 11 passes for 202 yards with three touchdowns as Adan Wyatt finished with four catches for 154 yards and two trips to the end zone, while Caleb Storey hauled in three receptions for 24 yards and scored once.
On the ground, Wyatt rushed for 86 yards with three more touchdowns, while Storey tacked on 39 rushing yards and scored twice.
Storey led the Panthers with 15 tackles followed by Wyatt with nine, Trever Brooks with eight, Aidan Patterson with five and a fumble recovery, and Hale returned a fumble 44 yards for a Panther Creek touchdown.
Players to watch for Rochelle, which is coming off a 62-0 loss to Richland Springs, include Jayce McCormick, Xavier Mendez, Chris Lopez, Gavin Rodriguez and Coltyn Sohns.

The District 15-A Division II champion and third-ranked Richland Springs Coyotes will tune up for postseason play as they visit the Lohn Eagles Friday night.
The Coyotes are coming off a 62-0 victory over Rochelle in which Richland Springs finished with 224 yards – 137 on the ground and 87 through the air.
Billy Perry rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns, passed for 42 yards and a touchdown, and caught two passes for 31 yards with another trip to the end zone. Ethan Deeds threw for 45 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 29 yards and another score. Cohen Ethridge chipped in 58 yards on the ground and crossed the goal line once, while catching a 14-yard pass as well. Layne Ward hauled in a 31-yard scoring reception, and Brice Roesler caught an 11-yard pass.
Defensively for the Coyotes, Ethridge led the way with 11 tackles followed by nine from Perry, and eight each from Ward and Rush Norris. Perry intercepted a pass and Deeds recovered a fumble.
Lohn dropped a 93-87 decision to Brookesmith last week which saw Addy Heard rush for 326 yards and nine touchdowns and return a kick 60 yards for a 10th touchdown for the victorious Mustangs.
Players to watch for Lohn include Dallas Keller, Kadin Reeves, Connor Nuncio, Sergio Sandoval, and Abel Salas.
