The Comanche County Medical Center (CCMC) Health System recently announced the appointment of Daniel (Dan) Bonk, MS, MBA, FACHE, as its new Chief Executive Officer. Bonk officially began his role at the end of September 2025, bringing with him more than 30 years of executive leadership in hospitals, health systems, and specialty care organizations.

Bonk has led healthcare organizations of all sizes, from critical access hospitals to multi-hospital health systems. Most recently, he served as Administrator at Methodist Surgery Center HCA and Methodist Health System in San Antonio, where he oversaw daily operations for an orthopedic surgery center generating $46 million in annual revenue. Prior to that, he was CEO of Bellville Medical Center in Texas, CEO of Nix Healthcare System in San Antonio, and CEO of Aspen Valley Hospital in Colorado, where he spearheaded multimillion-dollar expansions and earned national recognition for quality and performance. Earlier in his career, he served as Regional Executive Vice President for Aurora Healthcare in Wisconsin, overseeing four hospitals, multiple clinics, and thousands of employees.

Throughout his career, Bonk has been recognized for his ability to transform underperforming organizations into thriving health systems by driving operational excellence, expanding services, and building strong physician partnerships. He is a certified Medical Compliance Officer, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), a published author, and healthcare educator.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Bonk’s personal story is equally inspiring. A two-time state track champion in high school and an All-American in college, he overcame multiple spinal fusions—demonstrating the resilience and determination that has marked his career. His favorite motto, “Charge the storm”—based on the buffalo’s instinct to face storms head-on—reflects his leadership approach to meeting challenges directly and emerging stronger.

Dan and his wife of 31 years, Carrie, recently relocated to Comanche. Carrie is a pharmacist turned Christian counselor who also founded multiple charter schools in Wisconsin. Together they have two adult children, a daughter (30) and a son (27). Both Dan and Carrie are excited to make Comanche their new home and look forward to building relationships, friendships, and becoming active members of the community.

“On behalf of the CCMC Board of Directors, we are thrilled to welcome Dan and Carrie to Comanche,” said Barbara Williams, PhD, Chairwoman of the CCMC Board of Directors. “Dan’s wealth of experience, vision for rural healthcare, and passion for community engagement make him an outstanding leader to guide CCMC Health System into the future.”

As CEO, Bonk will oversee operations across CCMC Health System—continuing the mission of keeping healthcare close to home.
