All Three Brown County Cities Receive Increased Sales Tax in February

All three cities in Brown County received sales tax allocations for February that were higher than February 2024, according to information released this week by the Texas Comptroller’s Office.  February sales tax allocations reflect taxable retail sales in December 2024.  Details below.

BROWNWOOD

The City of Brownwood received $922,295, an increase of 38.24% over February 2024.  Fiscal year-to-date (October 2024 through February 2025) Brownwood has received $3,220,782, an increase of 6.44% over the previous fiscal year-to-date.

The Brownwood Municipal Development District received $301,068, an increase of 42.02% vs. February 2024.  Fiscal year-to-date the Brownwood MDD has received $1,052,169, an increase of 6.93% over the previous fiscal year-to-date.

EARLY

The City of Early received $231,556, an increase of 7.22% vs. February 2024.  Fiscal year-to-date Early has received $955,803, a decrease of 8.40% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.

The Early Municipal Development District received $75,251, an increase of 11.14% over February 2024.  Fiscal year-to-date the Early MDD has received $312,936, a decrease of 7.55% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.

BANGS

The City of Bangs received $30,037, an increase of 7.37% vs. February 2024.  Fiscal year-to-date Bangs has received $127,398, an increase of 12.41% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.

The Bangs Municipal Development District received $4,386, an increase of 18.16% vs. February 2024.  Fiscal year-to-date the Bangs MDD has received $17,409, an increase of 7.50% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.
