The Brownwood Fire Department, along with multiple volunteer fire departments from around Brown County, were responding to two grass fires simultaneously shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday, in the 2200 block and the 3200 block of FM 1176. A report of a third grass fire on County Road 201 proved to be false.

The grass fire in the 2200 block of FM 1176 eventually ignited a barn (pictured above).

Bangs, Brookesmith, Winchell, Lake Bridge, Lake Dam, Early and the Texas Forest Service were all toned out for mutual aid.

As of 2:55 p.m. mutual aid response was told to stand down with the exception of TFS as the fires are under control and clean up measures have started.
