You know the Super Bowl will be coming up before too terribly long, in what a month, okay, so I’ll going ahead and step out. I think I’ve spent every year for the last decade or so predicting the Super Bowl winner and every once in a while I’ll hit. Of course, my difference is that I pick this time of the year and not like some folks who get it down to two teams, and they make the prediction and then they say, “Yea for me” or “Golly, I just barely missed it this year”. I’m taking it before anything starts and I’m going to tell you that I may miss this one by a mile or two but I think the Dallas Cowboys are going to win the Super Bowl!

I haven’t picked them in a long, long time – Aikman was probably the quarterback the last time I picked them – but I’m not a Cowboy fan. I’m not a pro football fan, but I like doing the one pick a year. I try to look at the pro football games without any favoritism, and I can honestly tell you that I’ve watched the teams – I mean the real good ones I’ve seen. I honestly don’t think any of them can beat the Dallas Cowboys. Oh, but you say they already have. Yep, they have and I’ll tell you why I think – I think – they’re getting overlooked. They have a terrible road record and are almost unbeatable at home. They are a good team. I don’t think anybody top to bottom has a better roster than they do. I think a lot of people hate them because of the owner, and I understand that, but a lot of people like them because they’ve been around since the beginning, and they’ve got addicted to them.

But, will they hold the Super Bowl trophy this year? They’re going to have to have a lot of luck. You see, pro football teams, I think, more often than not dig their own graves. The Cowboys have several times simply because they lose games they shouldn’t have lost and they’ve given up home field when they shouldn’t have given up home field. The home field advantage in pro football – that’s a big deal. For the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl they’ve got to win three straight on the road and obviously the Super Bowl is on the road too. That makes this very, very difficult. I’m just saying that if – if – they play extremely well and overcome the home field disadvantage, I think they win the Super Bowl. Can they do that? I don’t know. They may lose the first playoff game they play, could very well, maybe the second, or the third, or lose the Super Bowl itself.

I do know this. Look back on the season. Take away that Arizona game and they would be in the driver’s seat. But, they’re not in the driver’s seat. I think if they had the home field advantage or if I thought that everybody was equal on some field, I’d take them. I would take them!

I would take them simply because I look at the roster and I watch them play, and they look very good to me. If they hit a hot streak, they could win it all. I do think they’re the best team in the go around. Will they win? It’s possible. It’s also very possible they could lose right out of the box.

Until next time, so long everybody.

P.S….This was submitted the day before the Cowboys and the Lions played.
