William N. Godbey, Jr.

William “Bill” Norman Godbey, Jr., age 76, of Brownwood, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2023. A visitation will be held at 10 am to 12 pm on Friday, June 23, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early with a graveside service to follow at 1 pm at White Point Cemetery in Comanche.

Bill was born to William and Earlene Godbey on June 25, 1946 in Aransas Pass. Later, the family moved to Pecos, Texas, where he graduated from Pecos High School. Bill married the love of his life, Sharon Suttee, on April 4, 1964 and they began their life together and were blessed with three sons. Bill worked as a Journeyman Electrician and was a member of IBEW, Local 520 for over 53 years. Bill was an avid Nascar fan, loved football, baseball, fishing, cooking out on the grill, yardwork, but most of all, he loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a great dad and was so proud of the men his boys have become. Bill and Sharon were married for over 59 years and Sharon loves him deeply and will miss him forever.

Bill is survived by his wife Sharon; sons, William V. Godbey (wife Alisha) of Custer, South Dakota, Claude Brent Godbey (wife Tonia) of Smithville, Texas, Cameron Blake Godbey (wife Tena) of Leander, Texas; sisters, Peggy Prewitt of La Grange, Texas, Debbie Jenkins (husband Calvin) of La Grange, Texas and Melody Godbey of Rockdale, Texas; Nine grandchildren; Four great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Bill is preceded in death by his father, William N. Godbey; mother, Peggy Earlene Godbey and sister, Jeannie Godbey.
