HOOPS ROUNDUP: Brookesmith, Blanket split basketball doubleheader; May girls fall

BROOKESMITH—The Brookesmith Lady Mustangs improved to 7-1 on the season with a 50-30 victory over the Blanket Lady Tigers Monday.

Brookesmith led 23-7 after one quarter, 31-12 at halftime, and 48-19 through three periods.

Leading the way for the Lady Mustangs were Bailey Mendieta with 17 points, Nevaeh Neith with nine, Sharon Beth Bradley and Elida Uvalle with seven apiece, Harley Gilliam and Ava Hathcock with four each, and Emma Slayton with two points.

Information for Blanket was not available.

The Lady Mustangs and Mustangs are back in action Tuesday, Nov. 29 at home against Abilene TLCA.

Blanket Tigers 53, Brookesmith Mustangs 33

BROOKESMITH – The Blanket Tigers won their season-opening basketball game, topping the Brookesmith Mustangs, 53-33, Monday.

Isaac Smith led Blanket (1-0) with 16 points trailed by Levi Vazquez, Kade Bradley, and Brayden Day with 10 points apiece. Aydan Wheeler added six points and Cameron Aultman chipped in a free throw.

Information for Brookesmith was not available.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers are back in action Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Cranfills Gap.

Hawley 46, May Lady Tigers 26

MAY – The May Lady Tigers fell to 2-4 on the season with Monday’s 46-26 home loss to Hawley.

The Lady Tigers trailed 18-8 after one quarter, 31-14 halftime and 37-20 through three periods.

McKenna Landes led May with 14 points.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 when they host Sidney.
