Gregory Dane Stewart, of Blanket, passed early June 25th at the age of 55. His battle with serious medical issues showed his courage in facing life challenges with his humor and with a smile. He was kind, compassionate, and patient.

Greg was born in El Paso. As a child, Greg grew up in Sonora with his parents Sammie and Bettye Stewart, and brother Allen Stewart. In High School, he won numerous awards by playing trumpet in the band. On August 29th, 1992, he married the love of his life and wife Andria Stewart in Corpus Christi. They had two children together, Kayla Stewart (28) and Colton B. Stewart (15).

Greg completed his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Michigan. He was extremely involved in his faith in God and was part of a traveling Gospel group. He loved hunting, fishing, and trapping. Greg was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed gardening. He was a member of the Brownwood Masonic Lodge #279 for 20 years. Gregory spent most of his later years working at MHMR, and adult assisted living communities, where he touched many lives. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

Greg is survived by his wife Andria Stewart of Blanket, his daughter Kayla Stewart of Temple, his son Colton B. Stewart of Blanket, and his father Sammie J. Stewart of Blanket. He was preceded in death by his mother Bettye Stewart, brother Allen Stewart, and several aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at Heartland Funeral Home.

A graveside funeral service is scheduled for 10 am on June 28th at Rock Church Cemetery. A celebratory lunch will be offered for all that wish to join following the service at the Blanket First Baptist Church.

This is not goodbye, and as Greg would say, “I’ll see you guys.”

Condolences, memories and tributes can be offered to the Stewart family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net
