One legendary chapter has closed, but another is about to begin.

Dallas Huston, “Voice of the Brownwood Lions” for 58 seasons and “Voice of the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets” for 57 seasons, announced his retirement from broadcasting earlier this year. Though the Hall of Famer is stepping away from the press box, he is not bidding farewell to the press entirely.

BrownwoodNews.com is proud to announce beginning Aug. 16, Dallas Huston’s “Out of the Box” column will run exclusively on the website each Monday.

“We are excited and proud to add Dallas to the BrownwoodNews team,” said Mitchell Dillard, President of Little Local Inc. “He means a great deal to Brownwood, high school sports and our community. For BrownwoodNews.com, this move continues with our commitment to invest further to grow the site with interesting and diverse content for our loyal readers.”

No topic is off limits as Dallas will give his thoughts on Brownwood Lions and Howard Payne athletics of the past, present and future; other college, professional and amateur sports; behind the scenes stories of the broadcasting business; his ministry; the history of the area; current events; life in general; and so much more.

“I’ve known Dallas for the 18 years I’ve lived in Brownwood and as worthy as he is of all of his hall of fame accolades as a broadcaster, his story telling ability is second to none,” said BrownwoodNews.com Editor Derrick Stuckly. “Some of my most cherished memories involve Dallas sharing his stories about ball games, trips to those ball games, along with the back stories and shenanigans. I couldn’t be more happy to provide Dallas with an outlet to share his thoughts, memories and opinions with his fans and followers.”

Start your week with Dallas Huston’s “Out of the Box” which will be published each Monday morning at BrownwoodNews.com beginning Aug. 16.
