HPU’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (BSN) was granted reaccreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for 10 years

Howard Payne University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (BSN) was granted reaccreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for 10 years.

The School of Nursing participated in an extensive onsite CCNE evaluation in the fall of 2025. During the visit, CCNE found zero compliance concerns on all key elements and standards of accreditation, said Dr. Laci Sutton, dean of HPU’s School of Nursing.

“This reaccreditation, along with the 100% NCLEX-RN pass rate, reflects the BSN program’s commitment to excellence in preparing Christ-centered nurses to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to clients across a variety of healthcare settings,” Dr. Sutton said.

In April, the Texas Board of Nursing confirmed the BSN program’s 2025 pass rate of 100% on the NCLEX-RN, the national standard for nursing licensure in the United States. The exam is designed to assess critical thinking, clinical judgment and the ability to provide safe and effective care. A perfect pass rate indicates that every graduate from the 2025 cohort demonstrated the competency required to enter professional practice.

“We are proud of our nursing students, and we are proud of all of the faculty and staff who work so hard to make this one of the best nursing programs in the state,” said Dr. Nathan Lane, vice president of academic affairs. “Our nurses are trained at the highest level by amazing faculty, but they are also trained and equipped by those same faculty members to be the hands and feet of Jesus as they minister to their patients.”

HPU aims to provide future nurses a solid Christ-centered foundation to serve others. The curriculum is student-centered with a focus on caring, faith and intellectual inquiry.

Students undergo a rigorous and competitive process to gain admission to the university’s School of Nursing during the spring semester of their sophomore year. If admitted to the program, students start BSN coursework the following semester.

Applications are open for fall enrollment.
